How To Wipe Out Over 38 Million of Your Competitors In 0.17 Seconds
Yep, it’s true. You can wipe out millions of your competitors in less than a second. Of course, this is assuming you actually have millions of competitors within your chosen niche. If you’re only competing against a couple of hundred, you aren’t going to be able to blow away nearly as many. (Bet you’re wishing you’d gone in for a more competitive niche now, huh?)
Competition as you see it
Do a search for your chosen keyword and check out the number of results. In the example above it’s over 38 million. Hmm, pretty competitive. Ah, but you notice there are no quotes around the keyword so obviously it’s not a true reflection of the level of competition.
Damn, still 148,000 competitors out there trying to do the dirty on you. Only these folks are even more sneaky because they’re actively targeting the keyword you want to go for. How very dare they?
Competition as it really is
Go back to your first search. Yes, the one without the quotes. Now, most folks leave their search engine settings at the default which means whenever they do a search they’re going to be presented with a list of 10 results. So, if you have used the advanced search feature to show 100 results per page, turn it back to 10 for now. (Just trust me on this okay).
Now work your way to the bottom… all the way down. Don’t try to cheat and stay above the fold. Done it? How many results did you see? Only 10? Are you sure? Can’t be. Google said there were 38,200,000. Surely the great Goddess of search engines wouldn’t lie?
Okay, I’m taking the proverbial p**s. But here’s the thing.
The number of results will vary for any given keyword. Could be anywhere from a few hundred to a few million. The number of competitors never changes. It’s always the first 10 people ranking for that given keyword. Always!!!
You are not competing against hundreds, thousands, millions of other websites. You are competing against 10. Check them out. Can you beat them? Admittedly they’re going to be a teensy bit harder to tackle than the other 38,199,990 you just blew out of the water, but hey, I never claimed I could help you wipe out all the competition.
