Article Writing for Dummies – 5 Tips to Get Your Content Read
You know I was looking at a piece of software today, designed to make it easier and quicker to write articles. Because apparently, it’s the ‘time‘ element that puts so many folks off using article marketing to promote their business. (gee, you want to run a business without putting time into it – I wonder how that works?)
Anyway, if you want to actually get your articles read (and this assumes you’re writing articles for reasons other than just turning out garbage to get a backlink) then try out the tips below. (Scratch that, try out the tips anyway).
- Make sure the content matches the headline. Sounds simple doesn’t it? The headline is what grabs the visitor, the content is what turns them into a reader.
- Short paragraphs. Breaking up the text makes it easier to read. Folks don’t like reading long long bouts of text that just goes on and on and on.
- Sub-Headings. Whenever you’re writing about a topic, break it up into little chunks. Not only does it make the article prettier to look at, it helps to draw attention to the various pieces of information in there.
- Facts n Figures. Don’t waffle for England (or America, or any other country for that matter). Readers want the facts. By all means pretty them up with sweet talk and make the article fun to read. But don’t forget you’re providing information first and foremost.
- Bullets. Short, snappy and to the point. Great for emphasising those little teaser snippets designed to make your readers curious to know more.
Writing articles quickly is one thing. Writing articles that get read is another. That’s not to say you can’t do both. You can. But like I said earlier, unless you’re turning out garbage just for the sake of building backlinks, the point of writing an article is to get it read. Once you’ve mastered that, then turn your focus onto writing them quickly.
